Hidden champion of the tuning scene celebrates its birthday
20 years of brake caliper paint from FOLIATEC®.com - 25 different shades
FOLIATEC®.com will be a proud 35 years old in 2017, with the current spelling of the company name being introduced as the web address exactly a decade ago. In between these two anniversaries, however, there is also the 20th birthday of the legendary brake caliper paint to celebrate this year, which was first featured in the catalog in 1997. The timing was good, because more and more vehicles had disc brakes all around and thus also brake calipers on all four wheels. Increasingly larger and airier aluminum wheels with sometimes enormous gaps conquered the scene and thus offered glimpses of their usually dirty gray rear end.
Owing to trendsetter FOLIATEC®.com now also there finally color moved in. Meanwhile also ever more automakers offer colored brake calipers ex factory, but this offer is usually available only for particularly sporty ones and limited to one or at least very few colors. FOLIATEC®.com, on the other hand, offers the proud number of 25 different shades in 2017. These include a dozen glossy colors such as RS-blue or power green, six metallic colors from prestige gold to elephant gray, the three matte shades racing rosso, midnight black and combat green, and four neon variants. Each package is sufficient for four brake calipers, i.e. a complete vehicle.
However, it is not only the huge selection of colors that makes the product the "hidden champion of the tuning scene", but also the ease of application. Normally, work on the brakes is only something for the specialist. But since nothing has to be removed or modified to apply FOLIATEC®.com brake caliper paint, even the layman can pick up a brush without hesitation. And this is how easy it is: First, thoroughly remove rust from the brake caliper with a steel brush, then remove residues of oil and brake fluid with FOLIATEC®.com Brake Special Cleaner. For your own painting process, mix the paint and hardener and apply one or two coats with a brush. For a clean result, mask off all parts adjacent to the brake caliper beforehand.
Applying the paint is particularly easy with the brake caliper paint set, which contains not only the 2-component paint system in the relevant color, but also the special brake cleaner, disposable gloves, steel brush, brush and spatula. The latter four utensils are also included in the alternatively available brake caliper paint assembly set. If you prefer to spray instead of paint, simply order the new brake caliper paint special thinner for the desired tone and then use the spray gun.
Since disc brakes get very hot in use, after all they convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle almost completely into heat, the FOLIATEC®.com Brake Caliper Paint is naturally extremely heat-resistant. This, together with its high resistance to weathering, chemicals, oils and corrosion, also makes it interesting for a wide range of other vehicle applications.
Due to its versatility, great popularity and high styling factor, the GT-blue version of the brake caliper paint has now also been given pride of place on the recently redesigned FOLIATEC®.com Millennium Roadster. This was already built at the turn of the millennium and, following extensive restyling, is now accompanying the brand through its anniversary year. After all, the futuristic vehicle is just as timelessly up-to-date as the "hidden champion of the tuning scene" that adorns its brake calipers.
