• The ideal temperature for working with FOLIATEC Glass Coating Film is between 15 °C and 25 °C. Work in an area protected from wind and dust, without direct sunlight and, ideally, in an enclosed area.
• Apply the film only to the inside of the glass and only to real glass. The adhesive can damage acrylic and Plexiglas over a period of time.
• You can be sure: FOLIATEC Glass Coating Film’s function will not be affected by using the defroster.
• Read all of the instructions before mounting!
• To affix Autoglass Films, use only the described applcation liquid (1). Do not use other materials for this purpose.
• Custumers with only little experience in the installation of AutoglassFilms are advised to have Films fitted by professional service (e.g. authorized FOLIA TEC Stylingteam Partners)
Cleaning the window
1 Mixing the cleaning/application liquid
In the spray bottle mix approx. 0.5 litre water with two to three drops of detergent.
2 Cleaning the glass
Spray the inside and outside of the glass to be covered using the cleaning/application liquid. With a cloth clean the glass, the rubber seal and the frames of all the windows. The foam makes this quite possible to make sure that they are totally free of oil. Remove any stubborn residues with a razor blade. Use the squeegee to dry the cleaned glass. Using a cotton cloth wipe the edge of the squeegee after every pass. Use a clean cotton cloth to dry the rubber and frames.
3 Position the film on the exterior side of the window and cut to size (cutting to size is only necessary for application on the front side windows).
Applying the film from the inside
4 Spray the inside of the window with cleaning/application liquid.
Spray the inside of the window with cleaning/application liquid first.
5 Remove the protective backing
Put two pieces of adhesive tape on the inside and outside of the upper corner of the film and using these as “handles“ slowly pull the backing away from the film. Immediately after the removal of the backing, spray the adhesive side of the film (facing outwards) to create an even layer of moisture. This is the side of the film that will be attached to the window in the next step. Do not touch the adhesive side of the Tattoos with your fingers.
6 Positioning the film on the inside of the window.
Take hold of the wet film by the corners and remove it from the outside of the window. Keep some tension on the film so that no two parts come in contact and stick. Carefully take the film into the vehicle and position the film on the window with the wet side of the film on the inside of the window (which is also wet). The film will draw itself onto the glass.
7 Working the moisture out
Wrap the squeegee with a cotton cloth. Spray the film liberally and draw the squeegee over it in even, horizontal strokes. The strokes should overlap one another. Apply the squeegee in only one direction (from left to right for example). Try to keep the pressure as even as possible. Work with the squeegee until all the moisture is out from under the film and the film is free of bubbles and wrinkles.
8 Pulling off the application film
Pulling off the application film is facilitated by spraying or soaking with fluid. Slowly and carefully pull off the application film at a 180° angle.
Continue to apply the squeegee on the Window Tattoo during this process. Repeat application step No. 7
The drying process of the film can be accelerated by heating the exterior side of the window with a blow dryer. Normal drying time takes about 3 days.
Special information:
If removing Autoglass Film, please do so gently, "jerky" removal may cause damage to any heating or antenna wires attached to the vehicle windows.
Care:
• Do not wind down, or clean windows coated with Autoglass Film for the first 3 days to allow the adhesive to dry fully.
• Only use clear water (without cleaning additives) and a soft cloth (no cleaning sponges) to clean Autoglass Films).
Subject to technical changes, further developments and errors.
Window film installed on car glas may have specific use restrictions in your country. Please check your local state law.
