PAINT-Protection Film
|
|
|

You have a purchased a high quality PAINTprotective foil distinguished through the following characteristics:
• It is a polymer softened calendared PVC foil.
• It is highly transparent and lustrous.
• The foil is prepared with a highly transparent acrylate adhesive that can be removed nearly residue free.
• UV-stable additives in the foil and adhesion system prevent the foil from turning yellow.
• The foil is car wash safe.
• 5 year warranty on the material properties.
• We recommend removing the foil after 3 years, because the adhesive will then become more permanent.
1) The application should be carried out at a location protected from wind, dust and direct sunlight, the ideal temperature for application of the foil is between 15 °C and 25 °C (60 °F and 75 °F). Wash vehicle surface area where PAINT Protection Film is to be applied with detergent and water to remove dirt, grease and wax. Use silicon remover or isopropanol or alcohol for cleaning (do not use ethanol or petroleum ether). Remove all body parts that hinder the application (strip moldings etc.). Mix approx. 1 liter water with one teaspoon commercial detergent in a spray bottle (with fine mist nozzle). Rub the surface dry with a fuzz-free cotton cloth. Mark the PAINT Protection Film along the lines of the vehicle section to be covered and then cut the film to size on a suitable base using the cutter enclosed.
2) Using the liquid detergent/ water solution, thoroughly spray the area of the vehicle where PAINT Protection Film is to be applied. Surface must be completely wet before applying PAINT Protection Film. With PAINT Protection Film face down on a flat surface, peel off white paper backing to expose the adhesive. Spray the adhesive side thoroughly with the detergent/water solution. Make sure that hands are clean - assure minimum contact with clean hands in the exposed adhesion system, otherwise visible fingerprints will remain in the adhesive.
Note: Do not allow adhesive sides to contact each other.
3) Place the moistened adhesive side of the PAINT-protective foil on the also moistened application surface and position, i.e. align the foil on the surface. Once in position, smooth out and remove air bubbles by using the squeegee (wrapped in a soft cloth). Start in the middle and work towards outer edges. Repeat as necessary. Use a cotton cloth to remove, i.e. absorb the squeegeed out mounting fluid. A hair dryer can be used to soften the material to conform easier around curved surfaces. The PAINT-protective foil may show streaks and appear to be opaque (not clear) after application - this clouded effect will disappear after 3-5 days when the remaining moisture has evaporated and the adhesive has reached its final bond. Do not drive the vehicle through a car wash until the entire drying phase is completed.
4) Finished!
Note: Allow to dry for approximately 1 hour after application (needed for the adhesive to bond). The PAINT-protective foil can also be glued on dry - this adhesive process is only recommended for experienced foil specialists. The foil must not be applied on a recently painted surface, because the paint needs approximately 2 months to harden completely. We recommend using a hair dryer to remove the foil, i.e. the adhesive. Heat the foil and slowly pull it off. Should adhesive residue still remain, use a soft fuzz-free cotton cloth to rub off the adhesive.
Within the scope of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards it is prohibited to install the PAINT-protective foil on the lighting equipment of the vehicle (headlights,
rear lights etc.). For areas outside the Federal Republic of Germany: Please observe the country specific vehicle registration requirements.
