Please read the instruction manual carefully before usage.
Contents: 2 LED tubes 135 cm (40 x LEDs each in red, blue, green), 1 distributor, 1 control unit including actuator with control lamp for color and function selection (14 functions), 12 large holding straps (for tubes), 12 small holding straps (for cable), 26 fastening screws, 2 crimp connections, 2 heat-shrinkable sleeves, 2 fastening plates for control unit, 4 fastening screws for mounting the control unit on the holding plates, adhesive pad for control unit.
You need the following tools: Screw driver, battery operated drill or electric drill, 2 mm drill bit (to drill the holes for the Parker screws), cable ties, insulation tape, flat plug, luster terminals.
Please read the installation instructions carefully prior to installing the LED GroundKit! Take your time with the installation.
Safety precautions:
• Disconnect the battery prior to installation.
• Please contact your Car Audio dealer or a car accessory specialty shop if you have questions regarding the wiring diagram of your vehicle or the installation of the LED GroundKit. Have the installation checked by an authorized workshop.
• As a rule make sure that all cables are protected from chaffing and breakage!
Package contents
a) Take all mounting parts and accessories from the package and at this point place the tubes away from the installation area for safe keeping.
b) Check the contents of the package to make sure they are complete prior to starting with the installation.
1) Test the tubes
First of all test the LED tubes for proper function. Please proceed as follows:
a) Connect the plus cable (red) of the control unit to the positive pole (+) of your car battery or to another suitable 12V power source.
b) Now connect the ground cable (black) of the tubes to the negative pole (–) of your power source.
c) The LED GroundKit tubes will light up.
Please note: The connections to the power source specified in steps 1a) + 1b) are for the sole purpose of testing the tubes as mentioned above. The connections should therefore be only temporary and easy to disconnect! Do not pull on the cables during separation, instead use a small screwdriver to carefully lever the plug out of the fixture. Make sure that the released connecting pins are not bent.
2) Installation of the LED GroundKit tubes
According to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards the tubes may not be taken into operation and may not be visible from the front, the back nor from the sides.
a) Select a suitable position for fastening the tubes. Please note: The tubes may not fastened in the vicinity of fuel lines, exhaust system, areas where high temperatures are generated and near moveable parts. The same applies to contact points for the car jack and car lift.
b) Now fasten the tubes for the side area with the included holding straps at an interval of 25 cm on the vehicle. Make sure that all tubes are securely fastened.
3) Run the connecting cables from the tube along the shortest connecting route to the distributor. Make sure that the distributor is located at a moisture protected area.
Note: The connection plugs can only be mounted in one direction respectively. Pay attention to the respective indentations of the plug fitting!
4) Mount the control module on the previously determined, easily reachable position (e.g. center console or underneath the dashboard). Securely screw the enclosed fastening plates into the mounting holes of the upper and lower end of the control unit with the small screws. The adhesive pad can also be used as an alternative to mount the control module.
5) Connect the red lead cable of the control unit to the power source ort he fuse box (terminal 15 or 30). Connect the black ground cable to the negative pole of the battery or an appropriate grounding point.
Tips:
For vehicles with fiberglass body, please connect the black ground cable of the tubes directly with the battery or an appropriate grounding point of the vehicle. Make sure beforehand that all connections are safely insulated.
Positioning the tubes:
- In context with the spring excursions of your vehicle, after installation of the tubes please check to make sure that the neon tubes and cables are properly adjusted and nothing compromises their secure fit by pushing the front and rear of the vehicle down several times in short strokes.
- Electronic devices, e.g. ABS-system, navigation instruments, etc. could possibly be influenced in their function.
Should the LED GroundKit tubes not function properly, please check the following:
- The cable connections
- The fuse
- The cables (for breakage)
- The tubes
