Automotive window films

For the FRG (area of the StVZO, the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations), ECE regulation 43 (ECE appendix 3, paragraph 9.1.4.1) serves as the legal foundation.

(1) Use on rear and rear side windows

FOLIATEC® Automotive Window Film is approved for use on rear side windows and the rear window in connection with a second exterior mirror. There is no legally prescribed minimum light transmission level. The film must not be wedged under the rubber seal around the window frame. The German ABG (general design certification) approval number on the film must be legible in at least one place on each window fitted with the film after installation.

After the film has been installed, an ABG approval certificate is issued. This is to be kept in the vehicle for verification purposes.

RETROACTIVE ENTRY IN THE VEHICLE DOCUMENTS IS NOT NECESSARY!

For regions outside the Federal Republic of Germany: please observe the approval conditions of the respective country.

(2) Use on front side windows and/or windshield
(windows which are important for the driver’s vision)

For the FRG (area of the StVZO, the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations), ECE regulation 43 (ECE appendix 3, paragraph 9.1.4.1) serves as the legal foundation. Use on front side windows is permitted if an inspection yields a light transmission of no less than 70% (vehicle window incl. window film). An individual inspection for each vehicle is mandatory (technical acceptance in accordance with §21 of the StVZO) – provided that the technically accredited testing laboratory has certified light transmission measuring devices. Remark: up to now no testing laboratory has possessed the corresponding measuring devices capable of measuring vehicle windows in an ‘installed position’ on the vehicle in accordance with ECE regulation 43 with the required measurement accuracy.

Due to the introduction of „FOLIATEC® TLG 43A“ such a measurement is no longer impossible.

NOW THE INSTALLATION OF FOLIATEC® Automotive Window Films ON THE FRONT SIDE WINDOWS CON BE OFFICIALLY ENLISTED IN THE VEHICLE DOCUMENTS!

Please note: The Installation of films on the windshield of your car ist generally forbidden

Luminous transmission

FOLIATEC® TLG 43A is the first mobile luminous transmission tester examined by the German „Materialprüfungsamt“ and certified bei the „Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt“.

All earlier efforts to develop such a device had failed, due to the disability to maintain the legally regulated measuring tolerances during a comparison of different consecutive measurements. The MPA, for the first time, can now acknowledge TLG 43A’s compliance with any tolerance regulations. According to such a positive outcome, the KBA was able to officially certify the TLG 43A for a measurement of luminous transmission concerning the allowance to install Automotive Window Films on front side windows.

Therefore the device can provide the core of SECURLUX® PASSENGER PROTECTION SYSTEM.

service_zulassung5FOLIATEC® proudly presents the first mobile luminous transmission tester certified by both the German „Materialprüfungsamt“ and „Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt“. Therewith it is possible to legally allow the installation of Automotive Window Films on the front side windows of your car. By retroactively installing such films on the front side windows, the legally regulated minimal luminous transmission can fall short. Up to now there have not been any legally certified mobile devices to officially prove the allowability of an installed Automotiv Window Film on already tinted windows, due to strictly regulated measuring tolerances. Thus the installation of Automotive Window Films on the front side windows has been forbidden.

For securing the legally regulatet minimum luminous transmission of 70% for front side windows as well as advising against an installation of window films in that case, the luminous transmission of your front side windows will be checked with FOLIATEC® TLG 43A before the installation of the SECURLUX® Protective Film.

2. Installation
The suitability of your front side windows for the SECURLUX® Protective Film having been proven, you can choose between a professional installation by an authorised FOLIATEC® STYLINGTEAM Partner or self-installation with one of our do-it-yourself packages.

3. Test
Afterwards an officially certified expert will test the luminous transmission of your front side windows including the SECURLUX® Protective Film via FOLIATEC® TLG 43A.
